The "De Beers Cullinan Blue" |By The Sotheby's auction house

In Hong Kong - from April ; The largest blue diamond without impurity also called "De Beers Cullinan Blue" of 15.1 carats will be auctioned by the famous Sotheby's auction house during the luxury week in Hong Kong.

The "De Beers Cullinan Blue" is larger than the 14.62-carat "Oppenheimer Blue" which sold at auction in May 2016 for $57.5 million. It was part of the collection of the famous London diamond dealer Sir Philip Oppenheimer (1911-1995) who ran the De Beers empire. The stone was mined from the Premier Mine in South Africa, where the world's largest diamond, the Cullinan, was discovered in 1905.
This time, the famous auction house hopes to reach 48 million dollars for this jewel of 15.1 carats considered as the largest blue diamond without impurity in the world ever listed by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA).
