Culture Point: Retrospective of the Breton summer season

The Bretagne Sud Sotheby's International Realty is glad to present to you this month an unmissable festival in our beautiful region of Finistère: The Filets Bleus "Blue fishing Nets".

Known to be the oldest festival in Brittany and even in France, this event was set up in 1905, in Concarneau, to help fishermen. It traditionally takes place the penultimate weekend of August.

This major event remains an essential showcase of Breton heritage. A real living and dynamic culture, this Festival highlights: Dances, costumes, Breton and Celtic music. More than 70,000 festival-goers are expected each year. The 2014 edition, for example, was a real popular success with more than 78,000 visitors. Recognized artists from the Breton and Celtic scenes perform in free concerts highlighting the richness and diversity of Brittany at the foot of the "Ville Close".
