Real estate sector analysis: Is 2022 worse than 2020?

Is 2022 proving worse than 2020 for sales to individuals, social landlords and institutional investors?

In constant decline since the start of the year, figures for the third quarter of 2022 continue to be alarming, according to data from the Fédération des promoteurs immobiliers (FPI). The sharp rise in construction costs, the rise in interest rates and the tightening of the Pinel scheme are the reasons for this, making private investors cautious.

Despite this worrying economic climate, high-end real estate continues to challenge the market with aplomb: Sotheby's International Realty France – Monaco, to name but one, generated a volume of business in the third quarter that it hadn't seen in 20 years in France! "In La Baule, demand for prestige real estate is as strong as ever," confirms Ronan Pradeau Founder of Sotheby's International Realty Bretagne Sud agencies.
