Jane Birkin's beloved house bought by a famous French novelist

Bretagne Nord Sotheby's International Realty office is delighted to unveil the latest article in Immobilier le Figaro highlighting the villa “Kachalou”, Jane Birkin's Breton refuge, and sold exclusively by Olivier Lintanf, real estate broker at Bretagne Nord Sotheby's Realty.

A SYMBOLIC SITE ON THE BANKS OF THE ABER BENOÎT IN LANNILIS, BRETAGNE (29)

Built by an illustrious industrialist Édouard Delamare-Deboutteville in the early 20th century, this elegant neo-Norman house was the refuge of the British actress, the most French of English icons.

A symbolic place, far from the hustle and bustle of the city, “Kachalou” for Kate, Charlotte and Lou, has found its new owners.

AN ILLUSTRIOUS BUYER FOR THE NEO-NORMAND RESIDENCE

With its old-world charm and breathtaking sea views, this residence was a haven for Jane Birkin and her daughters for 30 years. Purchased by Aurélie Valognes, author of Mémé dans les orties and Au petit bonheur la chance, the writer set her sights on the elegant building, set in a garden planted with tall pines and a variety of species. Situated along the shore, with private access to the beach, it offers an exceptional sea view, particularly from its veranda adorned with its famous cement tile floor.

KACHALOU” A PLACE OF INSPIRATION

“Aurélie Valognes chose this location for its calm and tranquility, a space conducive to creation and contemplation. We can draw a parallel between an author in cinema and an artist in writing. The aim is to keep creativity alive at Kachalou,” says Olivier Lintanf, the real estate consultant in charge of selling the property.
